Australia natives Wolf & Cub have jumped on the
label bandwagon signing with 4AD. The rock
crew complimented by the growling Joel Byrne, and
his blues like rock in the track "Steal Their Gold'
and grunge slams on the electric like his heavy
hitting track 'The Mess'. The duality is only part
of what drew the label to the band. Their
first album is due out in March but you can get a
sneak at one of the first tracks 'Steal Their Gold'
here. You can also see the first video from
the upcoming album 'The Mess'.
Okay, so we just told you about the Kaiser Chiefs
upcoming release date of their hotly anticipated
follow up to 2005's Employment entitled

get across is why we can't wait for its release.
So, we thought we'd let the band do the talking with

How do you expect your core audience to help
spread your duo-tastic talent when your bands name
is Arab Strap? Looks like they are taking it into
their own hands by releasing the swan song
compilation, Ten Years of Tears on February
20th. Of course, all your drunken nights of
listening to the guys only to wake up pissed
yourself silly.
Personal.
But your personal memories will be for not as the
band has put together more than a simple best of
rehash. Ten Years of Tears will contain
never before heard demos, new tracks, besides
remixes and reportedly more.

It's six degrees of separation day here at
Pensatos. First it was Under Byen's feathery
majestic and sad tones that hit our tour desk and
then the sultry if not ghostly El Perro Del Mar has
joined the trek across the States. To support her
recent self title debut, El Perro will be la trabaja
in New York's Bowery Ballroom starting March 1st and
hop-scotching her way to the California coast line.
That six degrees will meet in between at Boston's
Museum of Fine Arts where El Perro will be playing
with Under Byen's crew. See, our rambling
makes sense with patience.
If you are unfamiliar with her music, her three
piece outfit performs some of the saddest yet sultry
music this side of the Chiffons if they saw life
thru a bottle of vodka.

guitar upside your head, fool! East Londoner Ben
Drew - best known for his MC name Plan B is readying
his newest vocal and street-wise word fest digital

Sure Connor Oberst is a bit funny at times.
But no one's laughing at his decision to release
Gruff Rhys' solo album in the states. Rhys is
best known for his role as the frontman for Super
Furry Animals. The album, entitled
Candylion, will release under the Team Love
label on March 6th in both CD and four sided LP

actual etching.

Duo Tegan & Sara are off the road and back in the
studio to follow up on the well-received 2004 effort
So Jealous. This time however, they’ll have some
monster help in their Portland, Oregon studio from
producer Chris Walla whose best known for his work
with some guys you may have heard of – Death Cab For
Cutie and The Decemberists. The two have also
confirmed that Death Cab’s drummer Jason McGeer and
the Rentals frontman Matt Sharp will have some guest
spots on the as of yet untitled album. The effort
should be fast tracked, however, for a summer
release. We’ll keep you posted.

Sure we knew this was coming; it was only one of
the industries worst kept secrets. But now it’s
official. Today, indie record labels Misra and
Absolutely Kosher Records have officially joined in
a ‘strategic partnership’ to over the world even
better obscurity and music love. Of course, they
will still remain independent from one another but
will work together on many releases.
Departing in not such sweet sorrow is Misra’s own
Phil Warldrof. But the label will truck along under
the guid of Kosher’s own Cory Brown.
Just because we don’t give an album love doesn’t
mean we will keep you for experiencing our own
private hell – which in turn could become your
public heaven… right? Well, to prove we are not so
jaded, we give you Beach House’s new video ‘Master
of None’ – which is just as awkward as the entire
album and possibly as mind numbing. Wait, we’re
keeping an open mind here…
The well received White Stripes opera Aluminum is
officially a rarity. The original printing of the
album by composer Joby Talbot care of XL Recordings
is sold out with no intentions of ever printing the
album again. As previously reported, there was only
3,333 CD’s and 999 LP’s printed for the release.
But hey, if you don’t arrange your albums by
chronological order according to who you bought the
album with – you can always download the entire
effort via iTunes and eMusic.
If you do file your collection under any order than
alphabetical, and were fortunate enough to get a
copy of either print, then you should register you

that’s what it feels like this week – what with

News: Strokes Solo Album Revealed
The Irish destructive group Kaiser Chiefs must
know their core audience since their concerts tend
to provoke with insane rock riots. Therefore, the
band may have named their upcoming release Yours
Truly, Angry Mob as homage – or not. Regardless, the
affair will hit store shelves in the UK on February
26th and then March 27th in the States. The disc's
first single, ‘Ruby’, will enter February 19 – a
week earlier on CD, seven inch, and of course
download each with their own equally tantalizing
B-Side. The CD will get ‘From the Neck Down’, 7-inch
‘Admire You’, and the digital accompaniment live cut
‘Ruby’ which was recorded in November at Berlin’s
Kesselhaus.
Maybe it’s the soft spot I have in my ever
chilling heart for the artist Bright Eyes. He made

Technology. For the music purists it is
destroying the industry. But for Postscripts, it’s
the backbone for their sound. Created out of just a
microphone and a laptop, Postscripts music is both
digital and analog in sound and structure using
traditional (take that, ye classicists) mixes and
melding with electronic noise. Of course, the rather
earthy compounds of the Pacific Northwest is the
least likely exposure for such a creation. But on
the bands latest effort, Day After Tomorrow, those
ideas are used as a vehicle to showcase a surreal
world. Or you could quit with the wordy explanation
and just listen to two songs from the album.

It feels like ages since we’ve gotten our hands
on new Arcade Fire material – and rightfully so. The
bands been pretty closed-doors and off-the-record

Don’t get your knickers in a bind; the tour is
going to require a passport for most and a work visa
for those who wish to reside in England long enough
to see the act in their entirety. Bloc Party, hot on
the heels of their upcoming and much anticipated
next A Weekend in the City, has announced a
rather lengthy tour across the UK and into the
States with Panic At The Disco. You can save your
complaint emailing rhetoric to the folks at Vice for
teaming up these two acts; they aren’t listening.
But you can always come for the Bloc and run when
they play Disco.

The last thing anyone would expect from a Yale
graduate student is slick music. But that’s just
what Hrishikesh Hirway (pronounced "rishie-kaysh")
wants you to think. Easier to pronounce and simpler
to remember; Hirway works under The One AM Radio
mantra and has supported such indie favs as Ted Leo.
And even with his niche following, TOAR looks to
make 2007 his breath thru year.
Songs composed of Technicolor visions and
imagination in the dead of fall blend flawlessly
with aid of the bass and French horn layers. Mark
Kozelek’s vocals are as haunting as the atmospheric
cello that accompanies the album as in the first
release ‘In The Time We’ve Got’ from the upcoming
release This Too Will Pass. The album hits store
shelves February 20th care of Dangerbird Records.
mp3: In The Time We’ve Got
TOAR is also hitting the road in February and March
to support the albums release. They’ll even cross
paths with Akron/Family and Golden Birds along the
way.

Emily Haines and all her beauty and vocal
superiority are ready to lull you to other worlds.
The once (and possibly still - who knows when they
get back together) Broken Social Scene scarlet will
perform on NPR's famed 9:30 Club recordings.
Don't care for Marion Barry or DC? That's
okay, because you won't need to cash in your
frequent flier mileage or practice your crack pipe
etiquette. Just tune into
www.npr.org for a live stream of the
concert as it kicks off on January 10th at,
surprise, 9:30.
Of course, this is all part of her ongoing
support for the luscious 2006 release Knives
Don't Have Your Back.
Not all bands are discovered by us and our
knowledge base. Hell, most of them are
stumbled upon by accident and conversation.
Take for example our new found addiction Beirut.
File under "Hip Hairdresser Talky-Talk" as our
influential ear to listen upon and you're not even
close. It's really just for our filing system.
Hokay! Back to the point: Beirut has been hard at
work on a new EP Lon Gisland set to release
on January 30th. The follow up to last years
Gulag Orkestar is a solid sophomore effort if
we have yet to hear one. The first single
'Elephant Gun' continues with the bands oddly
addictive talent.
Why do we torture you
with not one, but two stories on The Shins in one
day - and not place them under the same header?
Because we rule and you don't. The melody ridden
band has released their first video from their
forthcoming album Wincing The Night Away entitled
'Phantom Limb'.
What's that? You
just downloaded the mp3 from our previous story?
Tuff' tats you shallow bastard! Check out this
shwashbuckling fiesta of fantastic shimmies.
