Billy Corgan and
baseball season are almost always somehow tied
together. It also looks like he’s sticking to that
trend for the release of the new Smashing Pumpkins
album. As previously discussed, Corgan and original
drummer Jimmy Chamberlin have been working together
on new material but without confirmation as to
weather or not anyone else is in the mix.
What is news though, is the album title and release
date have been confirmed. Zeitgeist, the new album
by the Pumpkins will be released on July 7th. I
don’t know if the triple seven thing is suppose to
one up Jack White’s affection for the number 9 but
we can only speculate.
We’ll keep you posted on more info as it becomes
available.
She’s the opposing force
to her ex flatmat Peaches but damn if she can’t
still get our motors running. Leslie Feist has been
pretty quiet since the Broken Social Scene
disbandment and her 2005 release, Let it Die.
Thankfully, shes back to let us know what we’ve been
missing with a new album aptly titled Reminder.
Feist has been in Europe recording the album with
the likes of Jamie Lidell, Renaud Letang, and
Gonzales.
The album is due to hit the North America on May 1st
but the UK will get it a week early. We don't have a
confirmed track list yet from the studio but cover
artwork is finalized:
In other Feist news, the Canadian artist has just
gone Platinum with Let It Die in her homeland.
Remember when D Town was
rumored to be the new Seattle of the Midwest? Well,
even though that rumor has faded to sewing circles,
The Dead Bodies want to prove it more than just a
myth with the release of Mr. Spookhouse’s Pink House
– the bands second LP. According to the band, the
album is intended to be listened to in two parts;
first as a rock opera and the second as a ‘songy’
track list. Now, we don’t know what that means but
the entire oddity that is Mr. Spookhouse is still a
slick offering from this Detroit group. Oddly
enough, part of the album was tracked in Seattle but
completed in Detroit.
The band will be at this years SXSW to wow the
labels.
Mr. Spookhouse’s Pink House is due out on March
20th. You can stream the entire album by clicking
below. We also offer you an mp3 off the album; ‘Pink

You don’t get the
nickname ‘The Boss’ and not get a tribute concert.
Bruce Springsteen is getting just that with the help
of Badly Drawn Boy, Pete Yorn, Jewel and more. On
April 5th in Carnegie Hall, the acts along with
Chris Isaak, Josh Ritter and more will join to pay
tribute to the artist. All proceeds will support
music education for New York’s underprivileged
youth.
Similar events have been
held in honor of greats like Bob Dylan and more.
We'll have more info of the complete tribute lineup
when it becomes available as there are more guests
sure to show up.

Rock outfit Good Charlotte are getting a lot of
press lately and rightfully so as the cross over
from underground to mainstream rock dudes. The band
is helping solidify the transition with the video
release of their single ‘The River’.
And according to his
website, he’s trying to break the ‘Scandinavian
stereotype’ as if most music people follow such.
Regardless, Ragnstam’s infectious pop rock mix is
refreshing in a soft hearted male music world of
today. His first full length debut, Sweet Bills, is
ready to pounce on American soil and heavily borrows
from early Beck like transitions of funk, guitar
rock, and snyth production. The album is due to hit
stores on March 6th care of Bluhammock Records. Look
for the full review in the coming weeks.

It was never my Pacers
that held the coveted Eastern Conference Champions
label, so the band of the same name will have to
fill the void in my heart. Eastern Conference
Champions are working on their first full length
effort due out sometime in the spring care of
Suretone Records. The album, titled Ameritown,
is said to feature an ‘eclectic mix’ of music. In
fact, the streaming songs offered below that were on
the original EP, are said to be on the upcoming LP.
For now, last years much loved but under hyped
Southhampton Collection EP will have to do; most
of which you can stream below for nada.

The West Coast is stepping up. Influential sounds of
the northern states have begun bleeding into the
coastal region of California. One of the results is
the reverie pop sound of Great Northern. The
enchanting melodies will be for all to hear soon
enough as the band puts the finishing touches on
their debut album Trading Twilight for Daylight, due
out on May 15th from Eenie Meenie Records. In fact,
you can check out the free mp3 below of the bands
first single off the upcoming album ‘Home’ which
harks part Jets Overhead with harmonies and pop
tempo. Personally, that’s one of the best
compliments anyone can give a rising act.

And although it requires mentioning, it can hardly
be labeled as a tour as the band only has two shows
planned for the next month with more to surely come.
So, if you are in LA anytime soon, check them out.
It’s A Gig Tour:

Equal parts Black Flag
and Minor Threat, Future Of The Left are brining
their painful expressions to wanting junk punk ears.
The band was formed from Mclusky ashes and are
getting geared up for SXSW to show the labels that
passed what they have to offer. Their as of yet
titled album is due out sometime in the Spring.
For your SXSW planning as well, the band will be at
EMO’s.
My Thursday nights may
be dedicated to Friday Night Lights and Smash but
the other six days are started with the blood
pumping music of Explosions In The Sky – often times
featured in the show and movie. Their upcoming full
length debut All Of A Sudden I Miss Everyone doesn’t
go live until the end of February but you can sample
the goods from a video shot at this year’s RIOTT
Festival.
Speaking of RIOTT. The online festival event is
ongoing thru the end of February and can be seen via
YouTube and the RIOTT site. The Festival will
showcase such great pop and hip hop acts like
Deerhoof, Sage Francis, The Wrens, Clipse, Busdriver
and more. Many of the posts, including the one below
were shot during the first act in November while in
San Francisco. Check out the site for further
details on when shows will be available for viewing.
The New York Times is reporting that Rick Ruben,
the man behind the glass window for music greats
like Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Beastie Boys, Johnny
Cash, LL Cool J, Danzig, Tom Petty, Jay Z, and more
has been offered a Co-Chairman position on
Columbia’s board. What makes this more interesting
is that Ruben, who’s own imprint American Recordings
is steady with work, would be allowed to continue
work on said label and his continued efforts with
Warner Brothers. Ruben is currently in the works on
seven albums for 2007 including acts like U2,
Metallica, and the final recordings of Johnny Cash
before he passed away last year.
The youth’s favorite

The band has had a busy year releasing their debut
Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not as
well as couple EP’s.
The first single, ‘Brainstorm’, will be released on
April 16th. The band is sure to tour within the
coming months as the camp has been pretty silent
since fall of 2006.

Metermaids will keep
getting you. The group is currently on heavy
rotation for college and indie stations around the
country for their new EP. But now they have a new
song – previously unreleased. The duo worked with
Sentence and 27 Sounds label on the single out of
mutual respect for each others sound. Check out the
hooks of the song ‘Funk Terrorist’ and read the
review of their recently released self titled EP.
