Doherty Continues His Shenanigans; Misses Court
Sweet Jesus what is going on!  In the dirty laundry life of Babyshambles front man Pete Doherty, it’s never a dull or surprising moment these days.  Scheduled to meet before a judge on the progress of his community service stint, the same that kept him out of prison on seven drug counts, Doherty instead was in Paris touring to help promote the bands new album Down In Albion.  The court date has been rescheduled but again, that ticking sound is ever so more poignant.

Trouble loves company?  Babyshambles gifted guitarist Patrick Walden is also getting out of jail today on assault charges.

The Dolls Are Back
Best known for their extremely odd dress – even in the 70’s, New York Dolls are back!  Finally breaking a studio hiatus of 32 years, the band will release their newest One Day It Will Please Us To Remember Even This on July 25th via Roadrunner records.  REM’s Michael Stipe, guitar legend Bo Diddley and just legend Iggy Pop will lend their talents to several of the 12 track release.

Tour dates will be announced shortly before the release.  Stay tuned and get the makeup ready.

Bumbershoot Festival: Tribe Added
Oh how I loathe the costal festivals; with their inexpensive admission prices and amazingly diverse offerings.  Bumbershoot Festival, Seattle’s awesomely assorted mix of music, comedy, and film is gearing up for another stellar showing.  Kanye West, A Tribe Called Quest, and Hawthorne Heights have been added to the already stellar lineup including Feist, Atmosphere, Mates of State, and the English Beat.  The festival is scheduled for September 2nd thru the 4th in Seattle Center and includes concert poster exhibits, a film festival headed by Seattle International Film Festival, author readings, two comedy stages, and a Flat Track Derby Invitational.  Take that freak show circus tent!  Get your tickets from Ticketmaster.

Spoon In Studio; Re-releases Old Stuff
Office favorite Spoon has entered the studio abyss to record the as of yet untitled new effort.  The band tentatively plans of wrapping up recordings by the end of the summer.  In the mantra of all bands entering the foray, Billboard.com is reporting the band as saying they “[we] want to do something we haven’t done before.”  To back up the talk, Spoon is looking into bringing in instruments and sounds new to the perfected sound of last years killer Gimme Fiction.  Mike McCarthy will helm the production role once again for the group who’s overseen all previous albums.

Frontman Britt Daniel is also reportedly kicking around the idea of a solo album to begin works shortly after the band closes shop this summer.

As if this isn’t enough Spoonage, the band is planning to rerelease their previously out of print albums Soft Effects and Telephono as a single release with original album art.
