In the ever increasing realization that one our
favorite celtic born acts Snow Patrol are doomed for
mainstream beyond repair, the outfit has recently
appeared on the Spiderman 3 Soundtrack with the
fantastically heatbreaking ‘Signal Fire’. Those
geeked out fanboys looking for new footage from the
upcoming movie will be disappointed. The video may
give Sam Raimi a run for his money showing that low
budget can kick studio big dollars any day of the
week. We were disappointed when there was no Bruce
Campbell appearance.

Also check out others who are soon to follow the
mainstream path thanks to the attention this film
will get over the summer. The Walkmen also recorded
a new tune for the soundtrack entitled ‘Red River’.

Texas ain’t known for their dose of pop influence
to the music scene – they usually only produce emo
rock outfits. But Voxtrot is looking to change that
with the release of their self titled debut on May
22nd. Retaining the soft side of acts like Islands
but flirting with up and coming Beirut sound –
Voxtrot is looking to make their mark on the scene.
Victor Van Vugt aided with the production of the
album – who’s previous works with Nick Cave and
Depeche Mode can be felt throughout (good or bad).

You’d think with a name like Los Campesinos!, the
band would originate anywhere but Wales. But the pop
outfit is less a traveling mariachi troupe and more
a decorated underground band in their homeland. Last
year’s ‘We Throw Parties, You Throw Knives’ –
although arguably influence by some of our friends
after a bender – was a stellar hit in the UK and
released on the same label that housed Bloc Party
and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. But now they are
poised for US dominance thanks to Toronto-based
label Arts&Crafts Productions releasing the bands
North American debut EP Stinking Fingers Into
Sockets. You can catch the act at this years
Lollapalooza – coincidentally their first time in
front of an American audience. A tour surrounding
the event should be announced shortly. We’ll keep
you posted.
We’ve been Brothers fans since his Zach Braff
hatrick appearing on both the Last Kiss and
Garden State soundtracks and even before with
is EP Waiting For Your Letter. But we’ve only
been teased by his ballads since he never had a full
length after all these years. Well, that’s about to
change on May 29th with the debut full length
release of Who You Are. His sound is best
filed under vocal-coffehouse-aroused. Or you can
just check out the title track off the new release
below – a heavier but much needed effort from the
typically somber and laid-back singer. You can also
check out Cary on tour later this month.

That’s why Dog Day is somewhat an enigma for the
label who normally supports only Electronic rock
acts like Final Fantasy and The Books. But every dog
has his day, right? Bad jokes aside, Dog Day is pop
perfection. Upon one spin of their single ‘Oh Dead
Life’ one can see the relevance to such hailed acts
like The Go-Betweens and Yo La Tengo. Check out ‘Oh

Lookie, Rog! Matt Dilon is trying to tell a
story. The actor turned video director for Dinosaur
Jr. makes his debut behind the preverbal camera and
with little flare. But hey, it ain’t art school. And
all we ever care about in the end is the music. And
damnit, this is Dinosaur Jr. we’re talking about;
the godfathers of guitar grunge in the 90’s. The
video for ‘Been There All The Time’ is pretty damn
straight forward but the song is hella-kick-ass …
for lack of better words and stronger vocab skills.
The album Beyond is scheduled to be released on May
1st.
Surfs up for Auzie rocker Xavier Rudd this

tweaks on his second Anti- disc White Moth which is
scheduled to drop on June 19th, but he is also ready
to set out on a two part tour that will begin with
the likes of Serena Ryder and cap with a supporting
act of Dave Matthews Band. Rudd will also perform
two days at this years High Sierra Music Fest in
Quincy.
On the subject of his upcoming sophomore effort,
Rudd said:
"It is my proudest work. I am so stoked
with it. It's a refection of my journey during the
last year. Actually, it extends to seven years.
Recording-wise, I got to do things I'd always wanted
to do but never had the time or the budget."
Of
course I’d have pretty high hopes for a album
produced by Dave Ogilvie – who’s resume includes
some serious diversity like N.E.R.D, David Bowie,
and Marilyn Manson.

Looks like the yanks were a bit too much of a
party horse for young Brit pop star Lily Allen. The
artist has confirmed that she is in fact canceling a
string of US tour dates. On a recent posting for
Lily’s much updated myspace blog, the artist blamed
it on the bottle. If you have attention deficit, you
can read the summation: booze plus one year non-stop
touring worldwide equals pooped.
"Hey Guys,
I'm writing to tell you that I have cancelled many
of my May and June tour commitments in America. The
reason for this, is because my mummy and daddy are
very rich, and I have never been in a position where
i have actually had to do any hard work before. I
thought that being a popstar meant going out getting
trashed with famous people and sleeping in all day.
The fact that this is not true has come as a huge
disappointment to me, and as a result I am throwing
the towel in.
No but seriously, I have been on tour with this
album for a year now, I have fulfilled every
commitment up to this point. I am tired, but more
than that I don't think I have been giving my best
performances recently. I have been getting really
drunk because i've been so nervous about doing bad
shows, and I don't want people spending money on a
going to see a show that isnt the best it could be.
I am not falling apart at the seems, I am not
suffering with exhaustion, I am not pregnant, and I
am not going to rehab. I will be here in America,
promoting the album and also starting to write the
second album, which I am beyond excited about. The
LA and New York shows will still be happening, and I
am still playing Coachella and Bonnaroo and all the
other festivals.
I'd like to apologize to anyone who has bought
tickets, but you can get your money back, if you
take 'em back to the place you bought them from."
Looks like Lily – despite the admittance to
indulgences other than music hasn’t made her less
humorous. As always, the pop star is taking it in
stride. As she stated you can still catch her in
select dates before she heads back overseas.
Apparently, drinking on home turf is a bit better
for the soul. We also show the canceled dates below.

Feist is a whore for two things: outstanding music
and dance. While we are still celebrating her most
recent effort around the offices Remember. The
videos for the album continue to pour out of her
camp at a feverish pace. Yesterday we dropped you
the video for ‘1,2,3,4’ which was a warehouse
Technicolor dance troupe number. Now, she gives us
‘My Moon My Man’ – a airport terminal choreographed
effort with some slick lighting and slow motion
parts. Patrick Daughters also worked on this video.
He also helped with her previous masterpiece
‘Mushaboom’ and is credited with Yeah Yeah Yeah’s
‘Maps’. Dude knows his chicks.
UK computer composer James Chapman – who plays
under the mantra Maps - has been signed on board by
Mute records. The first of the releases under new
label will be the folky atmospheric effort We Can
Create on June 19th. Maps made a name for himself
last year when NME named his single ‘Lost My Soul’
as one of the top 50 of 2006. Ken Thomas, who
previously worked with Sigur Ros, mixed the album
with the production aid of Valgeir Sigurdsson who’s
also worked with Bjork and Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy.
Keep an eye – or for that matter ear – out for his
painstaking computer spliced space-rock album.
For those who have yet to dismiss Thom Yorke’s
Eraser from their rotation may need to make
room. NME is reporting that the uber rare Radiohead
2004 EP Com Lag will be reissued in the US.
Once only an import only from Japan or Australia,
the US release will not only be at a reasonable
domestic price (damn you import thieves) but it will
contain remixes of Hail to the Thief select tracks
by the likes of Christian Vogel and Four Tet. It
will also contain some live cuts and alternate takes
as well as some b-sides. The release is scheduled
for May 8th.

Get your sycronized dancing shoes on. Feist
continues to get boogie blue on her new video
‘1,2,3,4’ off her upcoming release Reminder. Think
any water dance sequence on acid and you are close
to the Technicolor craziness that is about to
unfold. This is the second of videos for the new
album which also included a webisode montage of
previous videos she shot for her last effort.

but its still great stuff.
Young hipsters flocked towards the scent of
pubescent sex appeal, over-priced t-shirts, and
dance beats this Sunday in Wicker Park. Whether they
knew it was actually for a good cause, though, is
questionable. Toyota and Urban Outfitters have
joined forces to promote a concert series in support
of commercial free radio, dubbed, FreeYrRadio. UK
new-rave heart throbs Klaxons kicked off the first
leg with a free show in Chicago. They hammered out
rough versions of songs somewhat resembling tracks
off their debut album, Myths of the Near Future,
including Two Receivers and Gravity’s Rainbow.
Energy was high and sobriety was low for this
musically unsatisfying performance. I found myself
watching the remainder of the set in the street with
the other old farts, staring at the 50 inch screen
inside the trunk of the world’s smallest car. The
Klaxons will be customizing their own Toyota Yaris,
set to be given away as a fund-raiser for Chicago’s
very own WLUW. Catch up with this concert series as
it sweeps through your town and don’t forget it’s in
support of one of the last pure and untainted medias
available, commercial free radio.

scheduled to drop off of higher ground sometime in
May.
