Magic Numbers in Studio; Cancel Shows
So is the love hate of dedicated artists to produce new material
and move forward. Today, it was announced that the bearded
wonders are in their New York studio. Reportedly, the band
feels behind on their follow up to last years self-titled debut
and want to get things wrapped up. Although they were touring
with Devendra Banhart, their follow up was a bit more
important. They still plan to play the popularity altering
ex-noodle fest better known as Bonnaroo this summer. |

Doherty’s Needle in A Haystack
Read: Boy Who Cried Wolf (the Dyslexic Version).
Following up on yesterday’s report that Babyshambles frontman
Pete Doherty had halted an EasyJet flight due to reported drug
use on the plane appears to be false. According to police, the
pilot and crew became suspicious of the well publicized singer’s
antics in the plane restroom and halted the flight for a drug
search. The reported syringe was never recovered nor were any
traces of drugs. Ta boot; they are still banned from EasyJet
for life. Can you blame them?

Pete Doherty Detained on Flight
To quote Brodie Bruce, “Sweet fuckin’ Christ would you knock it
off?!” Once again, Babyshambles lead singer, ex-Libertine, and
always headline making Pete Doherty is making drug use
headlines. Today he was detained from an EasyJet flight in
Barcelona when a syringe was found in the aircraft’s toilet. No
charges have been filed yet but apparently the band is perma-banned
from Easyjet. The band was en route to their next show at
Primavera Sound Festival. Watch out PanAm. We’ll keep you
posted on charges and the full story once the police report is
released.

Snow Patrol Cancels Shows in US
Gary Lightbody, lead singer for Snow Patrol has failed to
recover from a recent bout with laryngitis; thus forcing the
cancellation of many US dates. Lightbody told fans:
“My voice is in pieces. When we began
the 'Eyes Open' tour in Feb of this year I was told by my
doctor a few days beforehand that I had laryngitis and it would
be best if I took a week off to recover.
“I told him I didn't have a week as we had shows pretty much
every day. All the gigs so far have been a struggle for me.
Unfortunately now I can barely hit any notes. My entire upper
range has disappeared into a whisper.”
No fear though as most of the shows are set
to be rescheduled at the end of the tour or later in August when
the band returns to the states. Fans already missed the
Washington DC and Atlanta show due to the illness. Below are
the next series of canceled shows.
Snowballed:
06-02 The Avalon Ballroom: Boston, MA
06-01 Newbury Comics Store |

Editors Delay Next Album
Blame it on lazyness – but not on the part of the band.
Instead, The Editors delay of their follow up to 2005’s The
Back Room can be blamed on John Q citizen for not picking up
on their sound fast enough. With the recent jolt of success
behind the re-release of the hit single ‘Munich’ the band has
decided to delay studio time to make way for the now crowded
summer tour circuit. The good news is that the band can test
multiple songs live including the recently heard ‘Bones’ and
‘The Weight of the World’. And while none of these are final
for the potential studio album, the band is currently planning
on recording at the end of the summer. We’ll keep you posted. |

Yeah Yeah Yeahs Want You!
Ah, the famed video submission for a band’s song. It was
admired by yours truly when Debbie [read: Deborah] Gibson ran a
contest in the 80’s for the same and now the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are
doing something of the like. The band issued a request for fans
to submit taped impressions of the trio to be used in their
upcoming ‘Cheated Hearts’ video off of their recent album
Show Your Bones. Nothing amuses me more than cos-play…nothing.
All attempts to trump Queen Karen-O’s flo-bee are to be post
marked no later than June 12th and in DV format.

Pete Townsend Throws Punches at White
Stripes
Apparently owning child porn now makes you twice as
self-absorbed. Pete Townsend of The Who fame doesn’t really
care for Jack or Meg White nor their troop. Townsend recently
told Relix magazine:
“I could probably outdo The White
Stripes with a guitar and a fucking drum machine.”
Big words against a band that is arguably
one of the most talented acts in almost a decade coming from a
guy who use to be in a talented band three decades ago. |

Thrills in Studio
The well known Irish pop act, The Thrills are heading back to
the studio to record their follow up to 2004’s Let’s Bottle

helm the project in Vancouver. The band stated on their mySpace
blog that although they have a title, they aren’t revealing it
yet. They are scheduled to hit the studio with up to 20 songs –
almost double what they’ve had in the past going into the
daunting process. We’ll keep you posted on release and track
info as it immerges. |

Love Courts Memoir Book
Oh how the desperate strip themselves naked of anything
private when fortune is void. Seemingly just short of selling
her kidney to fund her rehab stints, Courtney Love is set to
release a memoir of her life with 90’s angst icon Curt Cobain.
Entitled, 'Dirty Blonde: The Diaries Of Courtney Love', the 288
page turner will discuss her childhood as well as reveal never
before seen personal journals and pictures of the family.
Love’s agent David Vigliano told MTV
News:
"Here is a unique visual look into a world
that is never captured. It's a one-of-a-kind memoir of an
extraordinary life lived by a unique artist."
Love also speaks about the last days with
her husband before his [reportedly] multiple suicide attempts in
both Rome and in the States commenting that it was “obvious…now”
what was going on.
She made her bed she’ll die in it. The
auto-bio-cover-up is due out in November. |

Go! Team Get Talent for New Album
So-peppy-they-make-you-sick Go! Team are looking to tap some
major veteran talent for their upcoming album. My Bloody
Valentine’s founder Kevin Shields has been approached by the
band to produce and possibly play on their as of titled second
album penciled in for a next summer release. Shields is an old
hand with remixing with his dabbles in Brighton collective’s
songs ‘Huddle Formation’ and ‘Ladyflash’. We’ll keep you
informed on the development.
For those in the not-know, My Bloody
Valentine was an Irish-British group known best for their
vibrato and distortion of the guitar in their rock music. Their
1991 release Loveless is considered by many to be one of the
best albums of the 90’s. |

Paper Chase Readies Next
Oh how we love moody music in the summer. Dismal love affair
The Paper Chase has a new album, titled Now You Are One of Us,
hitting store shelves on June 6th care of Kill Rock
Stars. According to the band, the follow up to 2004’s God
Bless Your Black Heart builds on everyday fears from death
to commitment which is arguably the same thing.
Here’s track listing info and album
cover (censored) for your abysmal enjoyment:
1 its out there and its gonna get
you
2 we know where you sleep
3 the kids will grow up to be assholes
4 wait until i get my hands on you
5 you will never take me alive
6 delivered in a firm unyielding way lingering for just a bit
too long to communicate the message “i own you”
7 the most important part of your body
8 what's so amazing about grace
9 you're one of them aren't you?
10 the song will eat itself
11 ...and all the candy you can eat
12 all manner of pox or canker
13 at the other end of the leash
14 we will make you one of us

Islands Lose J’Aime Tambeur
The Islands are one less member today. J’Aime Tambeur, original
founder with ex Unicorn Nick Diamonds is done. J’Amie will be
leaving the band he helped form immediately. In a statement on
the band’s website, Tambeur said:
"The fact is that I don't need to
be in a band anymore. I think Islands is one of the best, if not
the best band out these days, and I have every confidence that
they will do incredibly well. I'm just not sure that being in a
successful band is all that important to me anymore. I'm not
leaving because of any problems with people in the band. It's
very hard to do this, Nick and I have been creating together for
quite a long time now... our relationship, both creative and
personal is something that I will cherish for the rest of my
life."
Were they ever that large to justify
so as a reason for leaving? Maybe in his mind… Regardless, he
will be missed.
