Wolfmother Goes Jackass
Wolfmother recently got a chance to shoot a video
for their upcoming single 'The Joker and the Thief'
as part of the Jackass 2 movie. The guys were
able to not only score the crew of the movie but
Knoxville and Co. as well to assist in the
production. I don't know if they plan on doing a
stunt in Andrew Stockdale's hair but I'm down for
watching.
Libertines Reunite
And then Gandhi ate. UK sources are reporting the
Libertines reunited on July 18th over some pints at
the Dublin Castle pub in Camden. This marks the
first time John-Q-Public knows of Pete Doherty and
Carl Barat have spoken since the reunion show last
year in Highgate last year. Don't expect the band to
get back together but it shows that Pete's rehab
stint may be taking a turn for the better since his
antics and constant drug use eventually tore the
band apart.
In other ex-Libertine news, Carl Barat's new band
Dirty Pretty things are gearing up for the stateside
release of Waterloo to Anywhere on August 8th care
of Interscope.
Thom
Yorke's Eraser Cracks Billboard 200
Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke cracked the US charts
with his recent solo release The Eraser which hit
number to on Billboard's top 200 according to the
Associated Press. The album has sold over
90,000 copies. You know who beat him out? Now
22 - an ongoing compilation of dance songs from the
Now! That's What I Call Music series.
Seriously, why not just smack the man with a fucking
fish instead. Less dignity would be lost.

You'd think we were part of the PR for Band of
Horses these days - but I promise you we aren't.
We're just Band-Aids, bitches. The Seattle duo
are readying a fall tour and getting new material
ready as well. What we presumably would be a
studio fall is now a live fiesta of cross country
magnitude. Minus a few festival stints and getting
back from some UK shows, Chad VanGaalen will be
joining them on the road as well. Check out the

'Promises', 'Nothing Going to Change My Mind', and

The
Heart Attacks Sign with Hellcat; Rancid Tour Hellcat Records: our source for punk perfection.
Accordingly, they just signed The Heart Attacks who
are on top to release their album Hellbound and
Heatless on September 26th. The album was
produced by none other than Lars Frederiksen,
another Hellcat-ian and lead guitarist/singer for
Rancid. Coincidentally, Lars is also acting as
promoter by bringing the band on tour with Rancid
for the summer.

Arcade
Fire Self Produce
Sure we were all patiently awaiting the next news
out of the Arcade Fire camp on their upcoming
as-of-yet-untitled followup to last years smash
indie sensation Funeral but we weren't ready
for this. Posting on their website
www.arcadefire.com band member Win Butler
dropped the bomb that the band is forgoing an
accomplished producer. Actually, they are
ditching outside help at all and doing it
themselves.
"After trying to decide if we
should work with any producers we kind of realized
that we already know how we want things to sound so
we should just run after that sound as far as we can
and not rely on someone else to guide the good ship
Arcade Fire...at least for now."
Sleater-Kinney
Schedule Last Show
I haven't seen this many candles lit on a college
campus since the Vietnam War. It must mean that
these are the final days of underground favorites
Sleater-Kinney. The girls stretched the Farewell
Tour Cher style by adding one final show at
Portland's Crystal Ballroom on August 12th. Feel
free to cry if you already bought the previous
'farewell show' tickets.
Jurassic 5 Drop Single "Work It Out"
J5's long awawited followup to 2004's Power In
Numbers is almost here next week on the 25th.
And to celebrate, we - well the guys over at
Interscope actually - released the video for "Work
It Out". Remember videos? It's what MTV
use to show before house-party porn (read: Real
World)
Motor Hits The Road
House music is about to get a cold dose of good
acid. Club spectrum Motor is readying their
release Klunk to hit shelves next week; July
27th and have a tour set up for select cities after
they finish their UK treck and to support the new
album. Look for the review soon.
You also hope that their
tour lives up to their name. Who picked these
spuratic cross-country dates, Clark Griswald?

Bravery
Get Working on New Album
Sure your sound was comparatively 80's but it was
intended 80's and accomplished with style.
So how ever do you follow up? With a producer that
can change your life forever. The Bravery are
hard at work on their follow up to last years self
titled debut with none other than Brendan O'Brien.
The man, the legend, who's production work includes
Pearl Jam (VS, Vitoligy, Yield), Stone Temple
Pilots (Core), Rage Against the Machine (Evil
Empire, Battle of Los Angeles). "Go on," you
say? Limp Bizkit (Significant Other),
Korn (Issues) oh and a guy named Bruce
Springsteen (The Rising). The knickers
are officially ruined.
The band admits that most
of the writing has been done on the road - fearfully
while in the presence of Depeche Mode influence but
we'll have to hold all reservations until we hear
the final product. But the band is quick to
point out that this will be unlike the original
self-titled debut.
"It's pretty different across the board, more
eclectic," stated frontman Sam Endicott speaking
with NME. "There's dance, rock and slow songs.
It's more organic, less synthetic, with more
acoustic instruments. We're all better musicians now
and we play better together."
Ben
Kweller Goes Solo; Album
Ben "Don't Call Me Folds" Kweller is shifting gears
for his upcoming self titled album. Dropping
the band and going at it alone, Kweller reportedly
took over every instrument on the eleven track
effort due to hit store shelves on September 12th
from the folks at ATO.
Gil Norton, credited for
helping the Pixies and Counting Crows form their
sound is at the helm of Kwellers work this time
around. Track listing to do battle with the
other useless knowledge in your mind is listed
below.
01 Run
02 Nothing Happening
03 Sundress
04 I Gotta Move
05 Thirteen
06 Penny on the Train Track
07 I Don't Know Why
08 Magic
09 Red Eye

Hold
Steady Talk New LP
The Hold Steady, better associated by the whiskey
affected rasp of Craig Finn are finally dropping
some info to the public on their October 3rd release

Records. The band of course will be promoting the
album as it nears the fall release date but you can
catch them on the home stretch of their Summer tour.

Ash
Head to the Studio
Irish power punk is back. Ash is reporting
that they are back in the studio working on a
followup to 2004's Meltdown. The band
also has some 27 songs ready to go but are still on
the fence chosing a producer. Understandable,
since these are the same guys who list their
influences with the likes of Twisted Sister.
All things being equal, look for the album to hit
the import rack in the first half of 2007.
Franz
Ferdinand Become Teachers
Apparently JK Rowling wasn't up to par because
fellow Scotts Franz Ferdianand are planning on
teaching kids how to write - music. An
upcoming clinic workshop in Scotland's Edinburgh's
International Book Festival held August 22nd will
include members Alex Kapranos and Nick McCarthy.
Expect the Sirs of Slack to pass thier expert music
tutelage to children while discussing songwriting
strategies.
