Flaming Lips Live DVD Info
The Flaming Lips are riding high off a powerhouse performance at LA's Hollywood Bowl last Sunday. Most of which is the self satisfying fact that their upcoming live album/DVD is now halfway complete.

Due out sometime early next year, the album will be the bands first ever live publication. But recording isn't over yet.  Next up the band plans to dig out old material from their large catalogue of tunes to perform for one of their unscheduled September shows at they hometown Oklahoma City. Big Boi and Andre 3000's film 'Idlewild' is finally confirmed to be released in theaters on September 8th. The duo that form Outkast have been working on the oft delayed film for some time now and recently confirmed the film's soundtrack release of August 21st.

Concretes Lose Singer

Bands splitting up, cats and dogs living together; it's chaos people! Concretes (now ex) lead singer Victoria Bergsman has parted ways with her pop act. The only comment the band had on the split was a statement that read:

"The band will continue playing together and are currently drafting songs for a new album."

The buzz started when Bergsman was noticeably absent from their recent festival in Spain creating wonder of an abrupt split.

As mentioned by their press release, the band has full intention of forging on.  We'll keep you posted.

Metallica Join iTunes, Hell Freezes

Metallica and their stubborn ways against the digital age have finally bit the bullet.  Starting Thrusday July 25th, the hard rockers catalogue will be offered on the North American edition of the iTunes store.  Not agreeing with the pricing structure of Apples much beloved iTunes store and distribution divvies, the band originally opted to work with MSN Music but only in album form.  This marks the first time that the band will allow singles of their music to be released via digital download.

Look for other strongholds to loosen similar grips over the next two months including Beatles and Led Zeppelin who have denied any ties with the digital jugernaught and their music catalogue instead relying on steady album sales and re-releases.

You see Jay-Z, you might think your are close to the latest night club.  Run into Antonio Reid, you might think your just played into his golf game.  You'd be wrong; Def Jam wrong! You're at The Killers show in New York fool! The Killers unveiled new tracks off of their upcoming second studio album Sam's Town (October 2nd) at a media gathering in NYC on Monday.  In attendance was Def Jam head Jay-Z and Island Def Jam chairman Reid.

Onlisterners noted the sound stayed true to the debut Hot Fuss but also flirted with Verve and Bowie sounds. Guitarist David Keuning later told reporters that there was so much material he wanted to shove into the new album that there will definitely be multiple B-Sides and single releases on services like iTunes.

Brooke Quits Band of Horses
Mat Brooke, one of the founding members of Band of Horses has fallen off the saddle and called it quits.  The songwriter who helped pen many of the tracks hasn't been touring with the band and was noticeably absent during the bands recent Late Night with David Letterman performance.

In an official statement from the band:

"Mat was originally in the band to help with songwriting, and that due to his other projects taking off, he is no longer in the band."

This won't slow down the band's current touring schedule as Mat has been void of any previous dates so far.

Karen O and Peaches on Jackass 2
Yeah Yeah Yeah frontwoman Karen O is working with electro super-chick Peaches on a song for Jackass 2 entitled 'Backass'. No alligator biting your ass dangling slab of meet or public defecation in a toilet store is complete with Karen O screaming or Peaches talking about her body parts in similar fashion.

The soundtrack is scheduled to drop the same time the movie hits theatres in September. As reported last week, Wolfmother is also featured on the album and even had the crew of the movie aid in shooting the video for the same song.

Jet Launches Album Info

The slow moving followup to Jet's 2003 Get Born album is seemingly closer than we initially thought.  As we reported a month ago, the band was working with producer David Sardy to widdle down an astounding 30 plus songs to 15.  Frontman Nick Cester told Rolling Stone of their pressures to successfully follow up Get Born:

"The first time around, we were a pop band from Melbourne, and this time around we're playing much bigger venues. We wanted to make sure the new album was going to be five times better... Obviously, we're still Jet. We're still a rock band."

The album is still slated for release in 2006 and reported songs included are 'Eleanor', the 'Holiday' and 'Stand Up'.  The later of which was described as, "the biggest rock song you've ever heard." That spells instant doom.

Doherty Cancels Show For Rehab

What is seemingly becoming a positive spin on the oft drug associated singer Pete Doherty, we have even more good news albeit the view of someone who wasn't in Spain this weekend.  The frontman for Babyshambles apparently backed out of the scheduled show at Spain's Ibiza Rocks in favor of a drug clinic to help kick his oft reported habit. As reported two weeks back, the singer was praised by a judge at his parole hearing for taking the necessary steps to clean up. We might be teetering the line of name change from Pensatos to Pete Doherty: The Memoirs. Below is only considered an excerpt. Hit up our search engine for the unabridged version...
