The Laserdisc version is now a pizza tray so I
don't have to flip it over in mid performance
anymore. I can finally throw out my old warped
VHS copy. Nirvana remaining members Dave Grohl
and Krist Novoselic have helped complete the DVD
transfer of the grand 'Live! Tonight! Sold Out!!'
which will include remastered audio and video of
Nirvana's 1991 and 1992 tour along with bonus
material that has yet to be disclosed.
The DVD is set to release to the masses on
November 13th which highlights the height of
Nevermind hysteria and features multiple shows.
Decemberists on Late Night
It's going to be a busy October for The
Decemberists. Not only is the group adding
tour dates and expected to release their highly
anticipated Crane Wife album on October 3rd, but now
they are going to show the world their worth on Late
Night with Conan O'Brien. The troupe will be
featured on his show for a live performance. To top
that all off, you will see them aplenty on the likes
of Filter, Paste, and Rolling Stone magazines. As
mentioned, the band is also adding another date to
their Warfield Theatre trip in San Francisco while
Colin will be doing an intimate solo show on October
6th as part of a fundraiser. There is no such
thing as overexposure...

The center point where folk and ambience combine
is really one of the best ways to describe a band
that once opened for the likes of Skid Row and
Fugazi. String based group Lavender Diamond,
hot off their recent EP The Calvary of Light, are
ready to hit the road but this time with a bit more
likewise sounding cohorts. The group will be on the
road this fall with the Decemberists and some solo
gigs as well. It's like a six degree of separation
day for Decemberists here...

Cat
Power Suicide Issues
We joked about it, but we never thought it was
legit. Cat Power - a.k.a. Chan Marshall who canceled
multiple shows earlier in the year surrounding the
release of her fantastic The Greatest album,
has admitted to suicidal thoughts being the culprit.
The New York Times reports, in an interview with
the singer, that she received psychiatric treatment
for the dissolutions. She also blames a non-stop
tour of 1998 that drove her to substance abuse which
continued for many years to follow.
"Even playing all my shows I was always
intoxicated, always kind of not there, which led to
the depression..It was more about the
uncomfortableness with just being in my own skin,
and that's why the alcohol was always with me."
Bound
Stems Appreciation Night
... literally. The Chicago based band Bound
Stems are hosting a two show extravaganza at their
home base Shubas and Penstaos will be there. The
early and late shows will be in celebration of the
bands album release Appreciation Night which
saw it's entrance to the world this week care of Flameshovel.
In the meantime, you can check out the review in
which we pretty much call them the gods of our
auditory canal.
...and yes that's gross. What we really said:
"…the newest flavor
of rock – the Neapolitan collection of dizzying
guitar riffs, witty and diverse narratives that
stands as a wake up call to the music industry and
its parched audience."
Sure he looks like a leprechaun but the dude can
whale. And now you are going to have proof on
DVD. As previously reported, Jeff Tweedy from
Wilco fame has his solo DVD Sunken Treasure: Jeff
Tweedy Live in the Pacific Northwest is ready for
the masses on October 24th. Check out the trailer:

Cartoon
Network Outkast
It makes odd sense. Andre 3000, the lead
and better half (arguably) of Atlanta super-duo
Outkast is readying his new cartoon series on
Cartoon Network. The show, entitled 'Class of
3000' has no exact date yet for release but the buzz
is beginning to form.
Don't worry though, this show won't be about
rag-times or brotherly feuds. Instead, it will
focus on a rock star who turns his back on his
career after winning several Grammy Awards and the
Nobel Prize to become... wait for it ... a teacher.
We'll keep you in the know because if you're like
us, the Family Guy and Harvey Birdman reruns ain't
cuttin' it anymore and Boondocks just isn't really
that funny.
Damien
Rice '9'
No, its not ABC's weak attempt to get more Lost
lovers because who gives a rats ass about a bank
robbery that brings strangers together. Seriously.
I'd sooner be glued to a chair with my eyes
clockworked open forced upon Blossom reruns.
Thankfully, it's the new album 9 from Damien
Rice due to hit stores on November 6th. The
follow up to the much acclaimed O will be
released on Rice's own label, Heffa.

Ecstatic Sunshine Tour
Hardcore 8-bit. It's just something we
never thought we'd type let alone hear. But
the Baltimore duo Matt Papich and Dustin Wong of
Ecstatic Sunshine have created just that.
Papich's heavy guitar background and Wong's digital
mantra have combined to form a formidable form of
Black Flag like magic.
The duo are now touring across the states and we
must say their live acts are very energetic and
every bit as eccentric as their sound.

There's always hope and hope is in the vision of
a Icelandic vixen Bjork reuniting her band - even if
it is for one day. The Sugarcubes are
reuniting for a one night event to celebrate the
20th Anniversary of the classic indie song
'Birthday' The concert will be held in
Reykjavic on November 17th.
This will mark the first time the band will have
been together on stage in almost two decades.
All proceeds from the concert will benefit
Icelandic music and artists. Because, what else do
you do in the flippin' cold but paint and shiver.
Long
Blonds Single
I think we wrote that backwards... Sure singles
are nice but getting more than just a downloadable

October 23rd. But the even better news is that the
full length Someone To Drive You Home will
release just shortly there after on November 6th.

Ferdinand fame.

Microsoft and Sub Pop?
I can hear them now. "Zealots! Sellouts!"
That's what the masses may say about the rumored Sub
Pop and Microsoft deal that will see the very indie
lable offer its cataloge as a package deal with the
upcoming release of Microsoft's Zune mp3 player.
The buzz started with a small picture from the
recent trade show that featured Band of Horses on
the screen; a Sub Pop band that is currently
enjoying rising success.
Sub Pop is currently keeping mum on the deal but
we'll keep you posted.

My
Morning Jacket Tours
Pearl Jam? We don't need no stinkin' Pearl Jam!
At least that's what My Morning Jacket has planned

White Stripes vs. Simpsons
Eighteen seasons and The Simpsons still impress
us with their taste of music and humor. Meg
and Jack White showed up on the season premier of
The Simpsons to take on Bart as he covered one of
their songs and gets into a West Side Story brawl
with the duo.
Watch it before evil Fox and their empire has
their way and pull the video!
Nigel
Godrich Launches Music Show
What do you do when you finally realize that the
visual medium of music is dead and MTV is no longer
music oriented? You bring it back the right way!
Nigel Godrich, producer extraordinaire to the likes
of Beck, Radiohead, and Thome Yorke has announced he
is working on a program that will highlight artists
live performances by today's top acts.
The shows, which will begin airing in the coming
weeks, will be posted on youtube. The first of
which will feature Radiohead. Beck has also
apparently signed on to be a guest.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Nigel
commented on the changing landscape of music and how
it is delivered to the masses:
"People don't buy albums so much because, as a
medium, it's changing, so I'm just trying to figure
out what it's changing into, and chasing after
that."
"MTV destroyed the art of music television,
ironically. It took it, held it somewhere, and then
actually destroyed it. It turned it into this news
magazine. It's very shallow and uninteresting."

Beck 'No Complaints'
Beck is possibly reinventing the low budget video
buzz. Not only have we seen almost a half
dozen videos off his upcoming album The Information,
but we are told we'll see one for each and every
song! Hey, no complaints here. Wait, that's
the name of the song too... Okay, so it was a Bob
Saget joke.
Next up: 'No Complaints' in which a gigantic bear
terrorizes a child and a chick loves her tambourine.
Locksley Invades
Don't know who Locksley is yet? You soon will.
