Video: Mates of State 'Like U Crazy'

Our love for married duo Mates of State is getting borderline clinical.  Some call it unhealthy but what do they know with their TiVo'd episodes of Big Brother. We can't help ourselves when they come out with new videos.  The newest infatuation is 'Like U Crazy' which sees the band in a retro 30's outfit as a zeppelin travels in space. Fantastically hip.

Want more? Well, check out the links below which include an interview with the band and photos from the performance in Chicago on the eve of Lollapalooza:

Jay-Z w/ Coldplay Family

It was a first for many moments in London last night.  Not only was it the first time that hip-hop extrodinare Jay-Z hit the stage of the prestigous Royal Albert Hall, it was also the first time a hip-hop act had ever played the location.  Atop that, in front of a sold out crowd, the rapper invited Chris Martin of Coldplay fame on stage along with his wife - actress Gweneth Paltrow.  The trio worked out 'Dead Presidents II' and Heart of the City' as Paltrow helped with backup vocals on 'Song Cry'.

Lollapalooza MP3s

We have yet to overcome our hangover post Lollapalooza.  And you think we will ever be able to take off our knee braces after hiking from stage to stage for three days? Forget about it! But withdrawl for the summer fests has officially set in as we gear up for winter hybernation.  Thankfully, Perry Farrell's got our back.

Starting October 19th, www.livelollapalooza.com will offer full sets of acts like the Hold Steady, Editors, Be Your Own Pet as well as several others and select songs from Broken Social Scene, Go! Team, Andrew Bird, Lyrics Born, Iron and Wine, and more!

They are also reporting to offer FLAC formats of sets as well which are CD quality cuts but take up ass amounts of hard drive space.  But if you listen closely, you'll be able to hear Kanye cry about his sound team in the background.

Lily Allen For Sale

I tried to sell myself off to some lucky ladies once - it didn't end well.  Let's just say you can catch me on late night reruns of the 5th Wheel.  But European pop sensation Lily Allen is giving it a go around herself but for charity.  DatingDirect.com is ringing in the countries National Dating Day by offering fourteen celebrity dates to the highest bidder of each.

Wonder if Lily is clean cut? Well, her profile is even posted so you can get to know your potential winning horse.

Pensatos Holiday

As we finish our move to the upgraded digs, we are going to need some time to get situated.  Therefore, there will be only sporadic updates on for Friday, September 29th - if any.

But fear not, your taste in music will only suffer for one night out on the town - two if you are loaded.  We'll be back Monday with a fresh view on the world and from our windows. -Ed

MIA New Single Info

Although she's lived up to her name for the past few months minus a traveling visa issue in the States, hip hop goddess MIA has been feverishly working on new material.  It looks like we may get to taste the fruits of her six month long labor.

Today, MIA announced that has a new single headed our way entitled 'Bird Flu'.  On her MySpace blog, the artist vindicated, "This Beat is going to kill everyone." and confirmed that video for the single has already been shot.

No release date for the single or its formats have been announced yet.  We can also confirm that despite rumors the album was to be produced by the uber popluar Timbaland, MIA herself is doing all the work.

We'll keep you posted.

Wolfmother Cancel Shows

They may be changing their name to Denmother. The throwback Ausie outfit Wolfmother has canceled the last leg of the US tour.  The reason? Bassist Chris Ross flew home because his son was born a month early!

The cancellations affect an in store performance in Chicago that has no foreseeable plans to be made up at this point as well as several venue dates. Affected dates are below.

The band is still keeping up with their UK jaunt which starts in November.

Mother Mayhem:

09-28 Hollywood Palladium - Los Angeles, CA
09-29 Viejas - Alpine, CA
09-30 Download Festival - San Francisco, CA

Others Album Info

Not only do they own the island in Lost, but they apparently are an unappreciated English rock outfit.  Who knew? Although the band called The Others has kept relatively quiet for over a year since their original release in 2005, the quadruplets are readying not only a new LP entitled Inward Parts but also a tour to support such. The album is due to hit UK stores on October 30th with no US date reported as of yet.

The first single 'The Truth That Hurts' is due out October 16th.

It must be stated that hopefully this is a step in the right direction for the band who was rated as one of the worst acts following the release of their first album.  Q Magazine rated it #40 of the top 50 Worst Albums Ever.  Eek.

Track List:

01 The Truth That Hurts
02 Guard My Kind
03 Always Be Mine
04 Thick As Thieves
05 Looking For A Product
06 Desolate
07 Why Should I Try?
08 Watch It
09 Got No Money
10 Probate

The band is currently working its way across the US starting in October to drum up support for the album.  We'll let you know as US dates develop.

Be Your Own Pet's New Drummer

Youthful rock group Be Your Own Pet has been struggling as of late to replace their key drummer Jamin Orral who left the band to pursue an education.  But he won't be allowed to buy smokes or beer for quite some time.

Jason Eatherly, a member of some side projects other members of the band are involved in, has replaced the vacant spot full time.  And although the average age of the group is merely 19, Jason is a pubescent 16.

Guess who's getting all the high notes...

Walkmen Get Signed by MLB

The Walkmen are getting a nice bench contract with the MLB.  The Fox network is working overtime to hype the upcoming baseball post season and to aid in the advertising, the Walkmen song 'The Rat' has been used in the commercial spots.

Now if they can just make a song for my Cubs disgrace entitled 'Next Year is Never' we'd be superfans.

Kate Moss / Babyshambles Live Duet

What happened to Katie? That's been on the mind for some time now since Babyshambles front man Pete Doherty and the super model Kate Moss parted ways shortly after a photo leaked to the press of the supermodel doing lines of coke during a band recording.  While it's been rumored that the couple may be back together in light of Doherty's recent sobriety stint, there has been no confirmation by either representations.

However, Moss did appear on stage in Dublin last night with the singer for a impromptu duet of the their song 'La Belle Et La Bete'.  She also appeared on the album for the same song.

What really shines in the video is watching the audience try to dance in a sardine environment.

mp3: The Positions

They were right with the title Bliss. The Positions debut album has been out for a few months now but we thought it our time to highlight some of their oft-overlooked work.  The pop duo of Nicole Stoops and Ivan Ramiscal are not only retro, but they deserve notice for any fan of witty and infectious anthems. Their fall debut of Bliss! is both and more.

Rogue Wave Fund Raiser

The Rogue Wave need your help and its not to help sell anything.  The drummer for the band, Pat Spurgeon, needs a failed kidney replaced and the band is seeking your help for donations.  But nothing in this world isn't without a bit of showmanship, is it? Since only the coastal boys can make the show, we urge you to help donate to the cause.  To donate, check out the bands site below.  And remember, for the cost of a cup of coffee....
