Sure they look like 80's rejects and too many
critics were confusing such with their sound which
was anything but. Redemption is nigh! The
Bravery are set to release their second album The
Sun and the Moon in early 2007 with the aid of
Brendan O'Brien who's previous works include Pearl
Jam's return to greatness.
Confirmed tracks on the album include the
following:
Shapes
The Ocean
Believe
Bad Sun
Rat In The Walls
Every Word Is A Knife In My Ear
There isn't a firm release date for the album
just yet but singer Sam Endicott spoke on their
fresh sound for their follow up to the 2005 debut.
"We did it to death a little bit. We were a
little sick of it. We went so synth-crazy that it
got a little boring to us," said Endicott when
speaking with Billboard. "It was more like, what
does an acoustic piano sound like or what are real
organ sounds? That stuff was more exciting to us."
The band has been pretty closed off from their
fan base for a few months working diligently on the
album. But they do plan some sparse dates in
November to feed the frenzy.
Brave South America Tour:
11-18 Personal Festival - Buenos Aires, Argentina
11-19 Estadio Mapocho [PSC Urban Fest] - Santiago,
Chile
11-24 Circo Voador - Rio De Janeiro, Brazil
11-25 Arena Skol - Sao Paolo, Brazil
It's starting to sound like those oft reported
notes that the kids of Snow Patrol were quite the
partiers is starting to come to fruition.
Earlier in the summer, Gary Lightbody had a bout of
laryngitis which forced the tour to be sidelined for
almost a month. Now bassist Paul Wilson has
inflicted a 'serious' injury to his left arm and
soldier.
Only a select stint of dates are affected as the
band plans on continuing with their UK and Irish
tour in November and December.
Refunded Tour:
10-27 Olympic - Nantes
10-29 Cedex Le Grand Mix - Tourcoing
11-01 Ringlokschuppen - Bielefeld

Still getting over the Rather Ripped hang over
from Sonic Youth's latest and greatest album?
Well, get ready for your next bender as the band has
dropped info on their upcoming B-Sides album The
Destroyed Room: B-Sides and Rarities. The
compilation will include rare tracks from the groups
vinyl collection of singles from their international
releases as well as unreleased material.
This album will also end the current contract the
band has with long-time label Geffen Records dating
back to the 1990's.
As if to begin a great schism - the band is
reporting that they are concerned with working with
Geffen records again. Although the label
released their latest opus Rather Ripped, not
to mention their remaining catalog dating back to
1990, bassist Kim Gordon has been quoted as stating
frustration with label:
"I don't really think they want us to stay. They
fired a few key people working on [Rather
Ripped] a week before it came out,
[including] our A&R person - he worked on our last
record with us, and that was the first time we had
an A&R person in five years, but we liked him. Also
a marketing person who had really good ideas. So, I
don't know."
Gordon went further to explain to Billboard that
she had no idea how this recent flux with Geffen
would affect - if at all - the planned re-release
deluxe version of the acts original 1988 sensation
Daydream Nation. A quick contact with the
label said that everything is still moving forward
as planned - although it is just that; in the
planning stages.

Good Charlottes 'Keep Your Hands Off My Girl'
Pop punksters Good Charlotte might still be
working on their yet untitled album due out in early
2007 but that doesn't mean they can't tease you.
Sure it's been almost three years since Chronicles
of Life and Death but their in no rush. Don
Gilmore is back in the production booth for the
album - the bands first work with the man since
their self titled debut in 2000.
The album is supposedly taking a turn toward the
sounds of yester-decade pumped full of influences by
The Police, Oasis and the heartbreak hotel
atmosphere from Hillary Duff.
First proof? The new single 'Keep Your Hands Off
My Girl' and the video for such:

Movie soundtracks are like the tangible version
of MySpace; a certifiable gateway to the mainstream
and a golden ticket to get off the indie bandwagon -
or be part of the cool traveling circus of such.
Spoon man not need it but they are going to get some
solid press for their submission of not one, but
four songs for the upcoming movie Stranger Than
Fiction starring Will Farrell.
Appearing with Spoon will be the likes of Maximo
Park, the up and coming Califone, and house music
creator M83 amongst others. The soundtrack
will be available on November 7th - the same week as
the film hits theaters.

The new purveyors of all that is metal and hip,
Mastodon, are getting the labels blessing and
pumping out a video for their first single 'Colony
of Birchmen'.
Remember that cloud of smoke in 'Lost' that Echo
had a staring contest with but was never explained?
I feel like this is a conspiracy with ABC and
Mastodon. Not likely but, damnit, we need
answers with the video of 'Colony of Birchmen'.
If you need to find out for yourself if they know
something we don't and are currently in bed with J.J.
Abrams, you can find the band on tour overseas.

Lead stories are in the eye of the beholder.
And I say that the return of indie rock gods of
yesteryear like Chavez are much overdue for such.
Riding the coat tails of their recently released
compilation of all that has been written by the 90's
underrated grunge rock group from Matador, Chavez is
hitting the road in a very small set of dates to
likely test the new found love and closet case fans
out there.

Northwest kick in the gnads and Chavez is electing
themselves to do so once again. Doubts?
Just read our
review of their stellar collection Better Days
Will Haunt You and you'll be hooked for either
the first time or all over again.
The Killers are trying to show you their bones. A
while back we informed you that the band was working
with legendary director of all things weird Tim
Burton for an upcoming video off the bands new album
Sam's Town. Reports had it as a claymation
piece early on but it seems only half true. Complete with a mock of From Here To Eternity
- nothing is sexier than skeletons going at it.
November 14th couldn't come fast enough for fans
of The Game as he readies his upcoming album
Doctor's Advocate. The first single is here for
your love though; the string ridden hip hop fusion
'Let's Ride'.
Southern rockabilies Calexico are currently on
the road, air, and sea it seems as the tour France
and the UK - then jet back to the US for some dates
in the warm southwest thru December - only to show
the lights of Japan who's boss. Their final
destination in New York sees the band participating
in the American Songwriter Series.
The series is nine hears running and asks the
participating artists to interpret and examine the
American songbook in their own unique way.

Continuing the Doherty saga - now in its third
year of production, Pete Doherty denies claims that
he in fact started the scuffle with a photographer
outside a hotel after a Babyshambles show at the
Piper Club.
The singer reports he was hit in the head with a
camera and retaliated. No response has been
issued by the Italian photographer who was
hospitalized after the beat-down by Doherty.
Just in time for Halloween, Skee Lo and Danger
Mouse - the duo best known as Gnarls Barkley have
released a video for their single 'Who Cares?' off
their best selling album St. Elsewhere.
The video seemingly follows a lackluster Blackula
who can't catch a break with the ladies and has to
settle for another man in his life.
Lawyers. The blood suckers of all that is
creative in the world. Fans. The sometimes
ultra clingy group that rival Robert DiNero to his
Wesley Snipes. But even they could not ruin
the day for The Automatics. The band has been
performing a crowd favorite cover of Kanye West's
'Gold Digger' for some time now during their 2006
tour. Due to popular demand, the band wanted
to lay down the track to tape for a b-side on an
upcoming single release. But first there was
the permission issue from Mr. West himself.
"I think people at the record company have
emailed him a copy," singer Rob Hawkins told NME.
"But I don't know what he makes of it, it he
approves of it or even cares!"
But now it looks like West and the law are on the
bands side as they have cut all the red tape needed
to release their version of the hip-hop hit.
The sample will be part of a b-side to the single
release of 'Raoul' which is currently slated for
re-release on November 27th.
Here's a sample of its oddity from one of the
band's recent shows.
Kele Okereke and company have been cooped up in
the studio for some time now with little contact
with the outside world and leaving us to replay
Silent Alarm to virtual wear-down. That's
all about to change.
The UK rock group, Bloc Party, have finally
dropped the release date for their hotly anticipated
follow up A Weekend in the City set for
release on February 6th. This will be the bands 2nd
trip from the studio after 2005's triumphantly
underappreciated Silent Alarm.
The first single, 'Prayer' will be released on
January 29th internationally. Some lucky fans have
already heard some of the songs off the upcoming
album as the band continues to test out new material
on the road. 'Waiting For The 7:18' and
'Hunting for Witches' have been reportedly played at
several events and deal with work overload and the
London terrorist attacks respectively. As
previously reported, the band is taking a darker
more extrospective look with this album than their
previous work.
Track List:
01 Song for Clay (Disappear Here)
02 Hunting for Witches
03 Waiting for the 7:18
04 The Prayer
05 Uniform
06 On
07 Where Is Home?

Lets just hope Sunday doesn't turn into the
Pink-rivaled NFL theme song next year. Speaking of
next year, the band plans to hit their home turf
with a grand tour to support the upcoming album.
The UK stint will see the band playing a three day
set at London's beautiful Astoria. Don't be
dismayed, yokels, as the band is also opening (yes,
opening) for Panic At The Disco! this fall.
While we think its criminal they aren't headlining -
at least they will blow those silly sods off the
stage with superior talent.

Long Island ain't known for it's music scene.
But it looks like As Tall As Lions are looking to
change your skewed perspective. Composed out of the
remains of a band called Sundaze, members Dan Nigro,
Sean Fitzgerald and Cliff Sarcona are looking to
pimp slap the indie music scene. Their harmonious
self titled long player is a catchy mix of heavy
guitars and ambient pop. Of course, our perspective
is just as easily ours and you need to make your own
decisions in life and move out of the basement!
Check out the streaming version of 'Love, Love, Love
(Love, Love)' and swim in Daniel Nigro's sweeping
vocals.
You can also catch the band live as they venture
across the US to support the recent release and gain
your respect.

Swede Sarah Assbring under the El Perro Del Mar
mantra is more than just a pretty face and she's
ready to drop kick you with folk-pop proof.
Not only did she write, produce and arrange the
entire effort, but it sounds like there is veteran
experience on this debut with her knowledge of girly
pop and muddled heartbreak sounds offering a much
adored effort. The US version will also include the
bonus track 'Shake It Off'. All of which will be on
store shelves November 7th. And while you can tell
that we like what we hear, you'll have to wait for

Fists of Fury may be the new tour name. As
artist rage against their biggest critics - the fans
- and their most despised - the paparazzi seemingly
hit a boil point, concert goers are taking their
dignity and lives into their own hands at today's
live music venues. Last week DJ Juan Maclean
was none to happy when an audience member touched
his gear and jumped the guy during a show.
Now, Pete Doherty is getting some pent up rage out
against the press - specifically the paparazzi who
have been tailing him since his oft publish drug
bouts some years back.
The Babyshambles singer reportedly jumped the
photographer and whaled on him before the two were
dragged apart. But the brawl wasn't just Doherty's
as reports have also surfaced that band members were
involved using ashtrays as weapons. Ashtrays?
At least save yourself some dignity and use your
fists.
As if that wasn't enough, police were not called
to the scene but the incident was documented in the
local Evening Standard. The paper also
reported Doherty was covered in blood leaving the
scene. All this went down at the Piper Club in
Rome, Italy on Monday. Let's hope this was just a
fit from Doherty while trying to kick his drug
habits and not caused by any use of such.
Our take on 'Littlest Things' doesn't really
classify Lily Allen in the same category. The
up and coming UK cheeky skirt is making headway into
the mainstream thanks to her much adored press and
whiplash tongue about all the artists she doesn't
like.
Lily's take on 'Littlest Things' however is a new
video out of her camp about the trials and
tribulation of heartbreak. Woe is Lily. But we
welcome the darker side of this pop-tart vixen.
As surprising as Locke growing drugs in the
boonies, ex Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy
Chamberlin has confirmed that he is indeed on board
for the Smashing Pumpkins reunion.
If you'll recall, Billy Corgan has been hard at
work to reunite the band that once was despite much
bad blood with recluse members. Jimmy
Chamberlin, however, was not much of a trump as the
two have worked together on several projects since.
In a post on the Pumpkin's myspace page,
Chamberlin worte:
"I'm here to tell you that great things are on
track for the future. As some of you know we are
indeed creating music again. Music that comes from a
place so pure it will burn the lies off the very
souls of those who try to discount it. We have
arrived at a place in our lives where truth and
honesty prevail and we are creating from that
place."
Songs are currently being penned but nothing has
been confirmed to tape yet but the group is hard at
work with Terry Tate of Pantera background. We'll
keep you posted but pray for this to work out well
because we have our doubts.
CSS has been on the road for some time now
proving their worth to the masses. Of course,
if you read up on them here you already knew their
weight in gold. Now the group is getting
visual savvy with the release of their video 'Alala'
off their self titled debut released earlier this
year. The video proves that the band is just as oddly
beautiful in edit as they are live. Tromoville
aspiring makeup artists everywhere, take note:

The band is also on tour for the rest of '06 and
even into the new year including a New Years show
that sees the band ring in 2007 in Syndey.

Part Spoon and Beck with beautiful vocal bravados
comes the sound of Kristoffer Ragnstam. Sure his
name is more difficult to pronounce than an Oompa
Loompa's hereditary line but who cares when you sound
this good! The Swede is currently testing out the US
market after winning over fans for years now in his
homeland. Enter the EP, Do You Want A Piece of
Me with its prevalent hooks and sweet sweet sounds.
Of course, this is all set to tide you over until
his full length, Sweet Bills, hits the
shelves in March 2007.
Track List:
01 Man Overboard
02 Breakfast By The Mattress
He's also out to prove his worth on the road as

It looks like a tour stint was only the beginning
for the Horrors and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Nick Zinner
of the Yeah Yeah Yeah's is looking to rub off some
of his good taste and skills on the UK over-the-top
group The Horrors on their upcoming self titled album.
Even though the album drops next week on October
30th, Zinner was all about the band in a recent
interview with Neu! Magazine:
"I liked their music and image - both trashy,
macabre, loud and a little bit camp. Also, after
meeting them, I was happy to learn they were all
secret braniacs."
He went further to say how much he loved working
with the group on their album and would do so again
in the future if time allotted. Now if they
can just do something about the Ramones doos.

My Bushmills and Kaiser Chiefs - the only two
imports I adore out of Ireland. Both more often than
not go hand in hand. And just when I thought I
might be able to smoke the impending hangover, their
back. The Kaiser Chiefs hare reportedly
recorded some 22 songs for their as of yet titled
follow-up to 2005's office fav Employment.
Speaking with Billboard recently, drummer Nick
Hodgson said that the album reflects their current
views, much like the last:
"We are full of inspiration. It's a big world out
there. There's a lot of things to draw upon. Just
like that album was written about what was happening
then, this one's written about what's happening
now."
There is still no target date but the band will
attempt to dwindle the songs down to 12 to 15 for
the final cut.
We'll keep you in the know. But if you are on the
road - like the Chiefs in November and December,
catch them in Europe as they put the final touches
on their album.
