Bloc Party Cancel Tour

It's a dangerous business these days being a musician.  From Snow Patrol's recent stint of cancellations due to illness and injuries compiled with recent fan/artists scuffles featuring both Pete Doherty and others is just hazardous to one's health.

Now Bloc Party's drummer Matt Tong is the newest victim with a collapsed lung. While it's not confirmed how the injury took place, it is known that it occurred during the band's set in Atlanta, Georgia's HiFi Buys Amphitheatre while playing.  His condition is "comfortable" according to the Bloc Party camp but their tour is anything but as the band has canceled the remaining dates.

Our hopes and individual prayers go out to Matt and his family as he recovers.

Danielson Movie Details

Daniel Smith and his mantra of Danielson are readying the much hailed documentary on the artist and his troupes for theatrical release across the US.  After getting some great praise on the festival circuit, the movies is readying a larger release.

The movie covers the trials and tribulations of the music of Daniel Smith and also shows us his expert tudalage for a then unknown Sufjan Stevens. Think Hoop Dreams but about musicians and their opposing forces that lead them down different and rewarding paths.

Danielson: A Family Movie will see a limited theatrical release in major cities thru December and January.

The Poughkeepsie band Robbers on High Street are hard at work in the studio on their sophomore effort Grand Animals but are giving a little love to their fans in the meantime with a four song EP The Fatalist And Friends. Aluminium Gets Released

With all this chaos that surrounds Jack White and the questioned [albeit - silly] future of the White Stripes camp since he's been playing with the Raconteurs for some time now with great success, it's good to see some old school Stripes love.e.

Beggars Group today has released the Aluminium album - an avant garde orchestral recordings of music originally written by Jack White and The White Stripes.  But this isn't some sappy cover album.  XL Records - a division of Beggars and it's founder Richard Russell originally conceived the album and wisely chose renowned composer Joby Talbot to helm the project.

The limited edition CD will only have 3,333 prints and comes with a series of card artwork from long time Jack White collaborator Rob Jones.
