I've always been hesitant to see any
band beyond the staple four piece on
stage less it become a Lion King
production and implausible repeat from
the then thought necessary studio sound.
But Arcade Fire showed up in town and
proved me wrong. Ten people on stage -
all playing an assortment of instruments
somehow sounded tighter than the studio.
Songs like 'No Cars Go' and 'Keep The
Car Running' off the recent Neon
Bible release made us appreciate the
then thought bunk album on a whole new
level. Even classics like Funeral's
'Wake Up' grabbed everyone in the
theatre. A balls-to-the-walls rendition
of 'Rebellion' made us recall the likes
of Jodi Foster: "no words" could
describe..
My comrade who saw the previous night's
show said it best in a text mid show
(yes, I'm that guy): "Now that's a
fucking concert." |
